community youth project

nientedafare has been an experimental community-in-process, a flow of energies and enthusiasms, an ever-changing team group that reached up to 20 participants, a reference for the youth in Biella and an opportunity for the city to turn decades of perceived decadence into new ideas and ways to build our future in what, we believed, is an extremely fertile ground.

"niente da fare" means "nothing to do"—which is the main and mostly diffused narrative people of all ages use to describe Biella, the italian province with the oldest population.

a diversity of things has been produced and organized with the group: music and assemblies in the public spaces, urban livingrooms, home parties, screenprint and risograph workshops, conferences, swap events and free shops, nonviolent communication, a fanzine, food rescues actions, group facilitations, open breakfasts, a podcast, art exhibitions, a bike repair workshop, mountain excursions, games, street parades.

nientedafare contributed to introduce bottom-up discourses on commons, regenerative practices and youth participation in the city of Biella.

the project is among the recipients of Creativity Pioneers Fund by Moleskine Foundation and has been co-funded by EU.
